The Harbour View in Seaton Sluice is again laying on entertainment for the hundreds of people who can queue for over an hour. The popular tradition, now in its eighth year, sees customers line up for their Good Friday fish and chips and, this year, County Durham acoustic covers artist Stephen Wilson will be serenading the customers from noon to 3pm. As well as ordering fish and ships, customers will also be able to make song requests from his extensive setlist - which is available on the insangel.co.uk website. In addition the restaurant will also be giving out free scratch cards - randomly distributed to customers offering special discounts. Restaurant manager, Sharron Carr, said: "Good Friday is our busiest day of the year, and my staff are fully prepared to manage the queues as efficiently as possible. "We've increased our stock threefold to meet the expected demand and each deep fryer will be dedicated to takeaway orders, resulting in the closure of the restaurant for the weekend." Ms Carr also acknowledged some of the issues the wide-reaching appeal of Harbour View's popularity is on Good Friday - urging visitors to park considerately to ensuring smooth access for all. The restaurant has also extended it's opening hours throughout the Easter weekend, including Good Friday and Easter Monday - from 11:30am to 8:30pm (restaurant closed) - and on Saturday from 11:30am to 9:00pm (takeaway only).
