Thousands celebrate Eid with huge festival in Luton's Wardown Park

Thousands joined together for a weekend of fun, music and prayer to mark Eid al-Fitr. The 1Eid event began with a group prayer in Stockwood Park, but the rest of the festival got underway. Guests were treated to entertainment, funfair, stalls, family attractions and international food. Young visitors made the most of enjoying circus performances, fire juggling, donkey rides, and a visit from Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. Councillors, including Luton's mayor, Cllr Amy Nicholls, and Rachel Hopkins MP, also made an appearance during the festival. The event was sponsored by Luton Rising, the council's company, which owns the airport. Vice chair of Luton Rising, Javeria Hussain said: "It's been a fun, fantastic event, and always having good weather always helps as well. Events like this capture the diversity in the spirit of our town, a town that's built of community, diversity and shared celebration."
