Teenager arrested after reportedly fleeing the scene of incident on Chester Road

Police have appealed for information after a vehicle, which had failed to stop for police, collided with another on Chester Road, near Hastings Hill. A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Just before 1.30pm today (Monday), we became aware of a vehicle driving dangerously in the St. Luke's Road area of Sunderland. "The vehicle failed to stop for officers and subsequently made off from the scene. "A short time later it was reported that the vehicle had collided with another vehicle near Hastings Hill on Chester Road. "It was believed the driver and passengers fled the scene. "With the assistance of the National Police Air Service (NPAS), an 18-year-old man was located nearby and arrested in connection with the report and is currently in police custody. "The occupants of the second vehicle were taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries.
