'IT'S THE NORM' - Disturbing video of murder in Mfuleni highlights a community living in fear

A DISTURBING video has made the rounds on social media over the weekend showing gunmen filming themselves mercilessly shooting two males at a store called Al-Baraka Cash Store in Mfuleni. In the 32-second clip, one shooter is seen getting out of a car while another records the gunman shooting a first victim in the legs outside the winkel, before he goes inside and shoots a second victim five times in the head. All of this is done in front of a woman and a small child standing in the spaza shop No date stamp is provided on the footage, and police spokesperson Constable Ndakhe Gwala said that they have no record of the incident. She confirmed: "Kindly be advised that this office has no recent record of the incident. An update will be made if new information surfaces." According to Mvano Magula, the public relations officer for the Mfuleni Community Police Forum (CPF), they are aware of the video circulating online. He said that gun violence and crime in the area are out of control, and he fears that his life might be in jeopardy as he is vocal about the ongoing crime in the community. Mvano explained: "We are aware of the video through social media platforms. The incident took place in an area we call Driftsands.
