Synopsis: The CBF will select senior male and female boxers for the national training camp ahead of major international events, including the Asian Games. The Cambodia Boxing Federation (CBF) will host a competition to select senior male and female boxers for the national team's training camp, preparing athletes for the 2026 competition calendar. Applications are now open for boxers eager to represent Cambodia internationally. Registration closes on Friday, three days before the competition is scheduled to begin at the National Olympic Stadium. The first bout will start at 2pm. The tournament features both men's and women's categories. Male competitors can take part in five weight classes: 50kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, and 75kg. Female boxers will compete in two classes, 51kg and 54kg. Only experienced athletes who train regularly are eligible to participate. Following the competition, an intensive national training camp will begin next month. Organised by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport in partnership with the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, the camp will bring together more than 600 athletes from across the country. Junior and senior competitors, including para-athletes, will train from April until October in preparation for key events. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary of State at the ministry, confirmed the programme following a coordination meeting with national sports federations at the National Sports Training Centre. He said the camp aims to ensure athletes are fully prepared for a demanding competition calendar, with the Asian Games in Japan in September as the main focus, alongside regional tournaments and world championship events. Chamroeun said that cooperation between the ministry and national federations will be crucial for effective training and strong international performances. Despite financial considerations, the programme will maintain strong recruitment across development squads, senior teams, and para-athletes. "This year, we continue to support more than 600 athletes," Chamroeun said. "They will prepare for major competitions, including the Asian Games, as well as beach sports, indoor events and world championships organised by international federations."
