Police said they learned Johnson had driven into the home, injuring multiple people, then got out and started shooting into the home. Six people were injured -- one person died at the scene and five were taken to the hospital.
Police said three officers were placed on administrative duty.
"As a police leader, these (shootings) concern me," said Hover. "Just one is too many and we've had several in one weekend."
Because the four shootings happened within a short time, police activated the emergency operations center.
When asked what police are doing to stop the gun violence, Hover said APD will partner with its state and county partners to increase law enforcement presence in and around Amarillo.
"You will see a visual presence," said Hover.
